![]() ![]() I assume you mean the demographic drop downs? These alter the importance ratings of a design, and change the effects of the Market Demographic Testing slider. Let me know if you need me to link you.ĭo we have to change anything in the testing menu to designate more precisely the targeted sociodemographic market with the new trim? Does it help? Never played with that. You can find them in game using the Help menu. Later generations, they're not as cheap or small.Īt no point did they name a new generation the "Honda Foo", if they did, it wouldn't be a Honda Civic, it would be a Honda Foo.Īll of this is covered in pretty decent detail in the trims tutorial videos, and lesser so in the trims portion of the manual. ![]() In the early generations, they were super cheap, small, economical. Each time they made a new generation, they made a trim of that generation's base model. They made a new generation in 1979, another in 1983, a fourth in 1987, fifth 1991, sixth 1995, and so on. Honda Civic, the first generation was in 1972. If you change the name of the vehicle, it is no longer a new generation of the vehicle you selected. ![]() You can do anything you want to the design, because it's a new model.Īnd when I will change the name of the new generation but won't touch any of the sliders - will it count as a new model or just a new model of the last generation (I know that in the history the previous generations would not be listed)? If that's not what you're talking about, let me know.Īnd when making new generation - when I will slightly adjust any of the sliders will it be counted as a completely new model or just a new generation?Ī new generation is a new model that shares the name, heritage, and image rating with the model it is based on. It's just a quick way to load previous slider positions. The "Clone" sliders button only clones slider positions. I'm not sure what you mean by the second half of the question. Any trims you make using Foo S as the base will go to 'Foo S' image rating. You selected Foo S, then clicked new generation. For example, Let's say the base vehicle is called Foo. If you make a "New Generation" using a trim as a base, that is a new model. Let's break up the questions some so they're easier to see:Īnd I wanted to ask - when Im doing new generation based on the trim but then designing a new trim for the new generation and using a "clone" button and chosing the original model from last generation - it probably wouldnt be counted as a same model?. But I probably was doing it almost all the time based on a trim which had the best image.Īnd I wanted to ask - when Im doing new generation based on the trim but then designing a new trim for the new generation and using a "clone" button and chosing the original model from last generation - it probably wouldnt be counted as a same model?Īnd when making new generation - when I will slightly adjust any of the sliders will it be counted as a completely new model or just a new generation? And when I will change the name of the new generation but won't touch any of the sliders - will it count as a new model or just a new model of the last generation (I know that in the history the previous generations would not be listed)? I was wondering why Im not getting it while I was making at least 7th generation of vehicle (at least with the same name) in 60 years. Wow, That's probably the answer to me not getting the "5 generations" achievement. And if you make a new generation of a trim, it's considered a different vehicle than the base model new generation. Just remember, making a trim of an older generation vehicle is not helping the image rating of the newer generation vehicle. If you're facing little competition, trims work against you as you'll only be taking away sales from yourself while increasing your costs.Īll of that being said, there are many ways to skin a cat, and there is no right or wrong answer. This works well if you have a lot of competition in a segment. So you probably should create your trims off the new generation while the new generation is in development. For example, the base model is an I4 and is the cheapest, trim is a v6 and a bit more expensive, and another trim is a v8 that is much more expensive. Trims are used to broaden the economic demographic range of the design. Official tutorials and documentation recommend a new generation of the base model every 5-8 years. ![]()
